Sembeule and Chamatendera Church Branches

Pastor Zenzo Moyo - Personal Profile

Pastor Zenzo Moyo is married and and has one son. He did his bible studies with the Bible Training College for Pastors. He also did certificate course in Evangelism Explosion and in Christian Leadership. In 2004, he was also studying for a Degree in Theology. His ministerial calling is that of pastoring.

Establishment of the Sembeule Church Branch

The Agape Missions church branch in Sembeule village was established in the year 2000. Pastor Zenzo Moyo heads the church branch. He is also the overseer for the following church branches; Chamatendera, Gokwe centre and Magwizi. The Chamatendera branch was established in the year 2003, whereas the Gokwe centre branch was established in February 2004. The church was established in accordance with the church's national outreach strategy of following up calls on evangelism from brethrens.

The church took Julius Moyo's call to evangelise in Sembeule village with much enthusiasm. They witnessed to many people until the field was ready for harvest. They preached from door to door and this was one of the most valuable strategies that made a difference in this area for the kingdom of God . At its inception, the church faced many challenges, which included: being associated with the opposition party among other things.

Establishment of the Chamatendera Church Branch

The pastor asked Mr Obert Moyo to go and scout for a place of worship in Gokwe. This was after they had been invited by Mr. Jericho Ncube to come and witness. He thus took off and journeyed to this place. He did not know anyone there but he believed that through the grace of God everything was going to work out for the good. He walked for more than 20km and because the place is too far he got tempted to go back home without reaching his supposedly destination.

But the teaching about Jonah's journey to Nineveh encouraged him not to. He finally reached the place called Chamatendera, where he first stayed with Mr. Jericho Ncube ( One of the brethren), who had made a call for evangelism in that area. Village heads were notified about the coming of the church in this area.

Outreaches were held in almost every Corner of the village. Many people got saved, on their first service about 19 people got saved and on the second one, eleven people were born again. At that time no head of the church had been chosen, Mr. Moyo thus took turns to visit the new branch. As the church grew, leaders were raised, Mr. Banda and Mr. Jericho Ncube were appointed as leaders of the church in Chamatendera.

Construction of the Church Building in Sembeule Village

The church approached the Rural Council and was allocated a church stand. Disputes arose over the church stand. Villagers claimed that the land that the church had been given was the grazing land for their cattle. Members of the church came together and started building the church with a community spirit. Mr. Moyo contributed building nails. Dingane Sibanda, Mr. Jonathan Mbiba and Mr. Obert Moyo constructed the roof. Obert Moyo and one of the youths thatched the roof.

Women on the other hand made stools of mud for the brethren. Bundles of thatching grass came from women. Brethren also made pledges in monetary terms and these went towards the buying of other building materials that they needed. The building was therefore constructed in this way and glory be to the Holy Spirit that promoted a spirit of togetherness as people worked. The church was built in an amazing way.
