New Dimensions poultry

“New Dimensions” translated to Unyawo olutsha in Ndebele means new beginnings. Women from distinguished backgrounds came together and started a project. Chickens are marketable and they have a high demand. The project, which was started in September 2004 in Nketa, Bulawayo has ten members. The group has six widows. Members of the group include those from other Churches like Roman Catholic.

Women meet every Monday to pray for the project. All members of the group were unemployed and hence this project has created jobs for them. The project was started to help women to get an income in order to take care for their families. The project however has also managed to take care of widows and orphans. The project operates through a roaster. Women take turns to feed the Chickens on a daily basis. Mrs. Ndhlovu the owner of the house where the project operates from monitors the chickens every night. The chickens are marketed at the supermarkets and in the community where the project operates. Mrs. Ndhlovu one of the group members noted that, they have a vision to become the nation‘s biggest chicken project. She further mentioned that, “A person with a vision continues when problems arise”. She also said that the project has gone a long way in triggering the sustainable development of the nation. The impact of the project in helping them is greater than what they thought.
