Priqullah - Candle making

The candle making project was initiated in September 2004.The group has 11 members that include one widow and five orphans. Mrs. Ncube one of the project members said that this project was meant to provide employment, alleviate poverty and also to educate orphans. The project specializes in making candles. Their target market includes rural areas, dark cities (places with no electricity) and supermarkets.
The project has its base in prayer; members of the group meet every Sunday after church for a prayer session for the project. The group got funds to start the project from the church’s rotating fund. Mrs. Chirambakuhwa one of the group members
noted that the project would go a long way in helping them to supplement their family incomes and also in building long lasting relationships between members of the group. A workshop was organized to help teach them how to make candles. A business seminar that was held to train them on Business Entrepreneurship also helped them to enhance their business skills. The project operates from Mrs. Ncube’s house in Tshabalala. According to Mrs. Ncube the vision of the group is to be the light of the world.
